The Long Island Veterinary Medical Association (LIVMA) honored Canine Companions at their recent celebration and scholarship dinner. Northeast Executive Director Debra Dougherty accepted the Outstanding Community Service Award, thanking and sharing the impact our volunteer veterinarians make on our program: “The work of our local volunteer veterinarians is critical to our mission, and we’re honored to partner with them to help change the lives of the people we serve. We give thanks to our local volunteer veterinarians for partnering with us to take care of our future service dogs, volunteer puppy raisers, and clients”. Funds raised at the event will go to Veterinary and Vet Tech scholarships. The dinner was attended by many veterinarians who volunteer their time and talents for our service dogs in professional training.
