Santa Rosa, CA (April 6, 2022) – St. Francis Winery & Vineyards* today announced its continued commitment to providing service dogs to people with disabilities, with the return of its “For the Love of Dogs and Great Wine” campaign. For every bottle of St. Francis wine purchased in the U.S. now through December 31, 2022, the winery will donate $1 (up to $100,000) to Canine Companions – the largest non-profit provider of trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities, and facility dogs to professionals working in healthcare, criminal justice, and educational settings.
In 2021, St. Francis Winery & Vineyards launched the inaugural “For the Love of Dogs and Great Wine” campaign to support Canine Companions and donated $100,000 to the non-profit organization.
“We are proud to continue honoring our namesake, St. Francis, the patron saint of animals, by supporting Canine Companions again this year to help provide professionally trained service dogs to those who need them most,” said Rick Bonitati, President and CEO of St. Francis Winery. “We look forward to another successful year of our ‘For the Love of Dogs and Great Wine’ campaign and encourage consumers around the country to support this life-changing organization by purchasing St. Francis wine.”
Canine Companions breeds, raises, and trains service dogs and provides a lifetime of follow-up services, completely free of charge to adults, children, and veterans with disabilities. Their dogs are trained to perform practical tasks that enhance independence and reduce reliance on others, such as alerting people to important sounds, aiding veterans with traumatic brain injuries and PTSD, and easing trauma victims during stressful police investigations. This powerful relationship between human and dog leads to increased independence, confidence, and inclusion for a person with a disability.
“The service dogs we breed, raise and train aren’t just the ears, hands and legs of their human partners. They’re also goodwill ambassadors and often, their best friends,” said Paige Mazzoni, Canine Companions CEO. “Thanks to the generosity of St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, Canine Companions will have the resources needed to continue to offer our expertly-trained service dogs free of charge to children, adults and veterans with disabilities.”
