Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma Join the South Central Region

Canine Companions at Baylor Scott & White Health - Kinkeade Campus sign with logoWe are pleased to announce that, as of January 1, 2022, the states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma are the newest members of the Canine Companions South Central Region. This transition brings the South Central Region to four states – Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. We believe we can better serve our clients, and community advocates by aligning geographically closer to the South Central Training Center located in Irving, Texas. This change means we will transfer the responsibility for all stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, puppy raisers and graduates, from these three states to the South Central Region.

The changes to include Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma in the South Central Region will allow our South Central Region community to grow stronger and operate more smoothly. We look forward to providing our clients and supporters with more convenience and better support with this change by reducing travel for Team Training, events, graduation ceremonies and matriculation, and especially for our ongoing follow-up for our graduates.

“Our Texas-based South Central Region opened in 2015, specifically serving Texans in the Canine Companions community,” says Paige Mazzoni, Canine Companions CEO. “Clients living in surrounding states were served by our Oceanside, California and Orlando, Florida training centers – often a greater distance away than the South Central Training Center. We are confident that in 2022, the South Central Region has the capacity to serve its surrounding states.”
