Kansas City Chiefs ‘Interview’ Canine Companions Future Service Dogs

In mid-April, Kansas City Chiefs staff received a visit from some unlikely friends when five Canine Companions future service dogs, accompanied by their puppy raisers, showed up at their offices.

It was a rainy day in Kansas City, but it was all smiles at the Truman Sports Complex, where Chiefs staff filed into a room to meet the pups. The goal of the visit? To educate staff on the mission of Canine Companions. Staff eagerly watched and asked questions as Canine Companions graduate Deb and her service dog, Mango, provided a demonstration. Canine Companions client Deb speaks with Chiefs staff.

The Chiefs first engaged Canine Companions in 2022 through Defensive End George Karlaftis, who chose to represent our organization for My Cause, My Cleats. Karlaftis learned about Canine Companions and was inspired to give back after meeting 7-year-old Patrick and his service dog, Julio.

From there, the Chiefs partnered with Canine Companions for Kingdom Pet Pack, their new program designed to engage fans and pet lovers.

Following the educational portion of the visit, the team reporter for the Chiefs conducted several “very important interviews” with the visiting puppies. You can watch those interviews at the link below.
