CanineAlert™: New Patented Wearable Technology Provides Support to People with Disabilities

Rooted in cutting-edge technology and compassionate care, this system builds upon our dedication to enhancing the lives of those we serve.

Developed in-house with collaboration with experts in the field, the patented CanineAlert system uses biometric data, monitoring the wearer’s heartrate through wearable technology that wirelessly communicates with the service dog’s collar device. When irregularities in the wearer’s heart rate are detected, the device triggers a gentle vibration, prompting the service dog to intervene. Through specialized training, the service dog performs specific tasks tailored to the wearer’s needs, such as interrupting a nightmare or aiding in their recovery process.

Unlike conventional anxiety detection methods that rely on physical movement, CanineAlert system operates solely based on biometric data. By monitoring the wearer’s heart rate, it offers support to individuals who may not exhibit outward signs of distress during episodes. This innovative approach not only provides essential assistance but also facilitates faster and more effective responses from the service dog, preventing escalation.

As our understanding and capabilities grow, the vision for CanineAlert extends beyond addressing specific conditions. We aim to broaden its application to encompass various symptom mitigations, including anxiety and stimming, ensuring comprehensive assistance throughout the day. Our goal is to foster inclusivity and enhance the quality of life for individuals with various disabilities.

At Canine Companions, we understand that no two individuals are alike, and that’s why we’re committed to providing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each person we serve. Whether it’s through CanineAlert or our comprehensive training programs, we remain dedicated to empowering individuals to live their lives to the fullest.
