In May 2023, Canine Companions graduate Grace and her service dog, Justin, graduated as one team from Seton Hall University in New Jersey – crossing the stage, once again, though, this time, Justin received his own diploma! He received an honorary “goodest service dog” degree for attending all of Grace’s classes with her.

Originally posted on the Seton Hall social media, their story went viral over both national and international social media and news outlets – even shared on popular accounts and websites, such as Barstool Sports, NOW THIS, The Today Show, CBS News, USA Today and many more.

Grace and Justin were matched in November 2018 at the Northeast Training Center in Medford, New York, after Grace’s prior service dog, Zelda, retired after many years of loyal partnership. Her dream had been to go to college and become an educator and shared her excitement: “With Justin by my side, I know I have the best chance for a successful, independent life!”

Now, as a graduate of Seton Hall University, she plans to do just that – fulfilling her dream of becoming an elementary school educator with an emphasis in special education.

Congratulations to Grace and Justin! We are thrilled to see what happens in the next chapter of their journey together.
