Canine Companions is Excited to Add Another Star Player to the Blue Wahoos Roster

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have teamed with Canine Companions to bring an adorable puppy to Pensacola and to the Blue Wahoos Stadium. The puppy will be raised and trained for the next 18 months by WEAR 3TV reporter and volunteer puppy raiser Kathryn Daniel, and fans can follow along on his journey to become an expertly-trained service dog.

Before the puppy arrived in Pensacola in June people had the opportunity to help select its name. The name Watson was the winner from fans who voted the name as a connection with Bubba Watson, the PGA Tour star and local resident who is a co-investor with the Blue Wahoos.

“I can’t wait to share him with Pensacola,” said Daniel. I’m very excited about the community being able to meet Watson and put their hands on him. And the interaction of people naming him in a contest was wonderful,” she said.

Our organizations have a lot in common. It takes a lot of training and practice to be a baseball player and to becme an expertly trained service dog who will provide independence to an adult, child or veteran with a disability.
