2025 National Service Dog Month Proclamations – Recognizing the PROS

Canine Companions calls for support of assistance dog handlers facing daily exclusion, discrimination and anxiety

Assistance dog handlers deserve greater understanding and stronger legal protection, according to national nonprofit Canine Companions.

Service Dog Fraud Bill Becomes Law in Oklahoma

On May 30, 2025, Oklahoma became the 35th state to successfully pass a law that creates penalties for misrepresenting a pet as a service animal. HB 1178, supported by Canine Companions, will take effect in November 2025.
