Darcy grew up on a dairy ranch in Ferndale, Northern California with days spent outside tending to the livestock. From an early age she had a love for animals, recognized the comfort they bring and the value they provide for people. Darcy and her husband Ken have seen this demonstrated over the years attending Canine Companions events and donating to the organization.
Following graduation from Sonoma State University with a focus on business and accounting, she partnered with her husband in their new company VIP Petcare, which provided preventative and affordable healthcare to cats and dogs for the community. Annually they participated in the nationwide Clear the Shelters program as well provided free services to local animal shelters.
In the early years at VIP, she focused on finance and payroll. Her role expanded to Director, Tax & Treasury, and she became the resident expert in compliance, insurance and risk management. She has broad experience in cloud-based ERP systems as well as customized CRM and medical record software. By 2017, the company grew their presence in thirty-two states with many thousands of pets and caregivers benefiting from their broad range of care.
After selling VIP Petcare in 2018, Darcy directed her focus to organizations that advocate and support mental and physical health. She has coached junior high basketball for boys and girls promoting self-worth from teamwork and perseverance. She currently serves on the Board for Luther Burbank Center for the Performing Arts as well as being on their Executive and Finance Committees. She also currently resides on the Canine Companions Finance Committee.
