Deon Danehy, Vice President of Operations and Breeding

Man seating with service dog and puppy in trainingDeon Danehy joined Canine Companions as Vice President of Operations and Breeding in March 2026, bringing extensive leadership experience in healthcare operations, behavioral health, residential care, compliance, workforce development, and multi-site program management.

Prior to joining Canine Companions, Deon held senior operations roles across behavioral health treatment centers, Adult Residential Facilities, intensive outpatient programs, and jail-based competency restoration hospital settings. He has led teams of more than 80 clinical and residential staff, overseen programs supporting more than 150 residents and patients, and built operational systems that strengthened compliance, staffing, quality assurance, documentation, and organizational growth.

Throughout his career, Deon has been recognized for improving highly regulated programs through disciplined operations and mission-driven leadership. His accomplishments include securing Joint Commission accreditation and renewals across multiple sites, achieving zero-deficiency ARF regulatory outcomes, earning perfect DSS/LPA assessment scores, expanding program capacity, stabilizing workforces, and helping establish a top-ranked jail-based competency restoration program in California.

At Canine Companions, Deon brings a strong foundation in operational infrastructure, quality systems, team development, compliance, and strategic growth to support the organization’s breeding and operations functions.

Deon holds a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Health Administration from California State University, Bakersfield, where he graduated magna cum laude, and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.
