Canine Companions has been matching expertly trained service dogs and people with disabilities for over 45 years. It’s not just the training that makes their dogs exceptional; it’s also their incredible research, breeding and puppy programs. Canine Companions has spent decades developing and perfecting their comprehensive breeding standards. Their program is nationally recognized for its excellence in maintaining dog health, optimal dog behavior and traits aligned with successful careers as service dogs.
As a part of their strategic plan, Canine Companions is expanding its capabilities with the goal of providing more quality dogs to more clients with disabilities, free of charge. Canine Companions hopes to decrease its waitlist and extend the reach of its mission, and the new Canine Health & Wellness Center is key to this future.
The new facility will ensure hospital-level bio security for our dams and neo-natal populations, provide location for litter to be health checked, managed and cared for, provide support and education to volunteer breeder caretakers, provide a center for conducting research to further the mission, locate litters with an adjacent, modern in-house veterinary clinic to ensure optimal and cost-effective care.
On Friday, June 10, Canine Companions was thrilled to break ground on their new Canine Health & Wellness Center. Canine Companions clients, staff and supporters participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking, complete with a champagne toast. CEO Paige Mazzoni delivered remarks, followed by National Board Chair Emeritus Jean Schulz, Vice President Canine Health and Research Brenda Kennedy and more. Generous donors who helped fund the new building joined Canine Companions staff and clients to break ground on the new center.
