Jeanette was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and since 1987, she has relied on expertly trained Canine Companions service dogs to enhance her independence. Now with her fourth dog, Fiji, Jeanette continues to live her life with confidence, knowing that Fiji is there for her to open the difficult sliding door to the yard, retrieve mail from the mailbox and follow her eyes to pick up specific items.
Dr. Emily Bray, Canine Companions postdoctoral research associate, received the 2022 Outstanding Postdoctoral Scholar Award from the University of Arizona Postdoctoral Affairs. In addition to her role at Canine Companions, she is also a postdoc at the Arizona Canine Cognition Center in the School of Anthropology.

The journey of an adorable puppy named Andy is capturing hearts in a new short film, “Andy: A Dog’s Tale.” “Andy” will be screened at film festivals throughout the year.
