Canine Companions opens new Nelson Schulz Canine Health and Wellness Center

CEO Paige Mazzoni cuts ribbon with help of service dogs, Jean Schulz and others.Canine Companions has been matching expertly trained service dogs and people with disabilities for over 45 years. It’s not just the training that makes their dogs exceptional; it’s also their incredible research, breeding and puppy programs.

As a part of their strategic plan, Canine Companions is expanding its capabilities with the goal of providing more quality dogs to more clients with disabilities, free of charge. Canine Companions hopes to decrease its waitlist and extend the reach of its mission, and the new Canine Health & Wellness Center is key to this future.

Canine Companions celebrated on Thursday, April 11 with a grand opening and ribbon cutting. Canine Companions supporters, staff, clients and volunteers gathered to celebrate, watch us cut our ribbon with the help of service dogs and tour the new buildings.

The new facility ensures hospital-level bio security for our dams and neo-natal populations, provides locations for litters to be health checked, managed and cared for, will provide support and education to volunteer breeder caretakers, provides a center for conducting research to further the mission and it locates litters with an adjacent, modern in-house veterinary clinic to ensure optimal and cost-effective care.
