Northeast Region
Welcome to the New Jersey Chapter of Canine Companions! As part of the Northeast Region, our chapter is pivotal in advancing Canine Companions’ mission to provide expertly trained service dogs to individuals with disabilities, free of charge. Our chapter is powered by a passionate community of volunteers, puppy raisers, graduates, and donors dedicated to making a life-changing difference.
Through local education, fundraising, and advocacy efforts, we support the training and placement of service dogs that enhance the lives of individuals in New Jersey and beyond. We invite you to join us in this important work. Together, we can transform lives with the help of a service dog.

Canine Companions is a nonprofit organization that provides expertly trained service dogs to children, adults, and veterans with disabilities, free of charge. Our New Jersey chapter is an integral part of this mission, helping to raise awareness and funds to support our programs.
Canine Companions primarily uses Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, and a mix of both breeds. These breeds are known for their calm demeanor, intelligence, and social nature, making them ideal for service dog training.
A service dog can provide independence by assisting with daily tasks, mobility, and emotional support. With a Canine Companions service dog, you’ll experience increased self-sufficiency and enhanced confidence, knowing you have a trained companion to assist you in everyday life. Find out if a service dog is right for you or a loved one.
Individuals with physical disabilities, mobility impairments, or hearing challenges may be eligible to apply for a service dog. Canine Companions places dogs with applicants committed to the care and training required for a service dog partnership.
