A Canine Companions service dog transforms the life of a child, adult or veteran with a disability – providing greater independence, confidence and joy.
With more than 70 million people with a disability in the U.S., there are many hoping for a holiday gift that gives them the opportunity to lead their lives to the fullest.
This holiday season, your gift directly helps more people receive our service and facility dogs with ongoing follow-up services – completely free of charge.
When you give today, your gift will be TRIPLED, up to $300,000.
8-year-old Evan experienced a stroke due to a lack of oxygen during birth, leaving him with cerebral palsy. In addition, autism and severe anxiety create additional challenges that are debilitating.
Service Dog Kalvin helps Evan conserve his limited energy by retrieving his leg brace and opening doors. His deep pressure therapy helps Evan regulate his nervous system in public and each night. Thanks to Kalvin, Evan’s world has opened up.
Every day for 27 years, Kimberly got ready for work as an educator. Then, one morning, she went into a coma and was in septic shock, losing her hands and her legs.
Kimberly was partnered with Service Dog Noodle, a mellow, calming dog, enhancing her independence far beyond her expectations.
She shares, “He’s given me the confidence to ask for help and not be shy about my disability. Without him, I would be homebound. He motivates me to get out and try.”
Born profoundly Deaf due to Goldenhar Syndrome, Hayden has never known life in any other way. But being Deaf means missing everyday sounds that most people who can hear take for granted-a doorbell, a knock at the door, or a loved one calling your name.
Hayden says, “Having a hearing dog makes a profound difference in my life. Abby helps me notice the world around me. She gives me a level of independence I didn’t even realize I was missing.”
As an acute care social worker at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Tyler helps kids navigate life-changing diagnoses – and those are some tough days. But Nash is the perfect remedy for hard days and big feelings.
Tyler shares, “Every day, Nash brings healing, laughter and independence to children who need it most. Recently, he helped a young cancer patient find joy again by making mornings something to look forward to – together, they changed her bed sheets. I love reminding patients, ‘If Nash can do it, so can you’.”
8,400 people with disabilities, including over 600 veterans, have gained greater independence from partnering with our service dogs.
Each service dog is trained in up to 45 tasks to help clients live life to the fullest.
All service and facility dogs and follow-up services are provided completely free of charge.
