Tom Clements – North Central Region

two people with step and repeat in the back

Tom Clements connected with Canine Companions® through one of our graduate teams in 2013. He quickly became passionate about the mission and got involved in the organization as a donor and volunteer.

Upon his retirement in 2015 he joined the North Central Regional Board and took on the role of regional board president in 2017. Under Tom’s leadership, the regional board has grown from 8 to 13 members and has created three board committees to help foster leadership opportunities. He assisted in the creation of a sophisticated recruitment, training and onboarding plan. Tom also works collaboratively with other regional board leaders across the country to discuss best practices and enhance board development.

Tom also serves as the chair of the Capital Campaign Committee and has been a leader in connecting donors and community members to the capital campaign to fund the New Albany, Ohio campus. He has personally committed to the campaign, overseen 100% participation of regional board support, assisted in the solicitation of gifts and hosted Point of Entry events to engage new donors.

As a part of his commitment to the organization, Tom is also intentional about spending time connecting with the staff, volunteers and graduates with regular attendance at graduations or visits to the office. He has attended the volunteer leadership conference each year of his presidency and makes a point to attend all regional events. Tom is a leader, team player and compassionate advocate for Canine Companions. His unwavering commitment has grown our reach, strengthened our donor base and contributed to the excellence and innovation of our organization.
