Welcome to the South Florida Chapter Website. Our chapter serves the East coast of South Florida. Our membership includes graduates, volunteers, puppy raisers and donors, who are all enthusiastic about supporting the mission of Canine Companions – providing highly trained assistance dogs for people with disabilities, free of charge.
If you’re looking for deeper engagement as a Canine Companions volunteer, we encourage you to get involved with our chapter. The South Florida Chapter is an extension of the Southeast Region, located in Orlando, FL. We work to raise awareness, raise funds recruit new puppy raisers and volunteers and support one another’s work on behalf of the Canine Companions’ mission.
We are a lively network filled with opportunities for social engagement, from puppy classes to fundraisers. Beyond the satisfaction of doing good work for Canine Companions, lifelong friendships are often formed among chapter members. If you are interested in working with our chapter, contact us. Dr. Evan MacLean, director of the Arizona Canine Cognition Center at the University of Arizona, is exploring ways to identify the best dogs for different jobs – before they start the long and expensive training process — by looking at their cognitive abilities.
March 2021 – St. Francis Winery & Vineyards has launched “For the Love of Dogs and Great Wine,” a nationwide campaign supporting Canine Companions®. Effective immediately, for every bottle of St. Francis wine purchased, the winery will donate $1.00 (up to $100,000) to the organization.
